“Graduates of Google University.”
“Do you have a medical degree hanging in your office?”
“The government wouldn’t allow a corporation to hurt us.”
“I’ll take the word of research scientists over that of a mommy blogger any day.”
Isn’t it wonderful to live in a country whose government regulates the pharmaceutical and medical industries and acts as a never-sleeping watch dog, protecting its citizens from abuse around the clock?
I wouldn’t know. Neither would you.
In a perfect world, the Centers for Disease Control, which is supported by over 11 billion taxpayer dollars this year, would be an impartial entity. It wouldn’t be allowed to form partnerships with the very corporations whose products it studies for safety. It certainly wouldn’t be permitted to accept tens of millions of dollars from those corporations through its non-profit extension, the CDC Foundation.
Yet, since 1992, the CDC Foundation has been filtering special interest money into pet projects around the world. The special interest donors include trustworthy companies we all know and love, like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Kaiser Permanente Health Plans, Merck, Sanofi-Aventis, Pfizer, Eli Lilly, GlaxoSmithKline, and the ever-charitable Task Force for Global Health, which presides over Voices for Vaccines. Other donors committed to public health include Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, and Yum Brand foods, which owns KFC and Taco Bell.
Did that list turn your stomach? Well, hold on. The CDC Foundation also gives positions of leadership to their best buds, such as a Vice President of Kaiser Permanente, whose “Vaccine Study Center” gives their stamp of safety approval to products made by other CDC Foundation donors like Merck, GSK, and Sanofi.
So you’ve got a CDC non-profit accepting money from vaccine and other drug makers – whose vaccines have been deemed safe by Kaiser’s Vaccine Study Center – who then puts a Kaiser VP on its board to help guide the direction of the non-profit. Does the CDC Foundation spend pharmaceutical money on growing its vaccination programs? It sure does.
One of the CDC Foundation’s biggest givers is General Electric, whose long-standing former vice-chairman Bob Wright is the founder of Autism Speaks. It’s been said that Bob Wright’s other position as President and CEO of GE-owned NBC is the reason why Autism Speaks denies the existence of vaccine injury autism—it’s bad business for NBC pharmaceutical advertisers.
It is no coincidence that in 2010 a vice-chairman of GE joined the board of—you guessed it—the CDC Foundation. Talk about the fox guarding the henhouse. It’s bad enough that mainstream media spews non-stop vaccine PR pieces, but they wield their influence over the CDC too?
Guess who else is a regular donor to the CDC Foundation? The one and only Dr. Paul Offit, who donated not once, but twice in 2012. The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia must have been good to him when they sold off the rights to his rotavirus vaccine.
So this begs the question: when the largest national public health entity in the world opens its pockets to accept pharmaceutical money for pet projects, and puts executives from its largest donor companies on its board of directors, and the entire agency gets a case of the warm fuzzies about all of the philanthropic good it does, do you think for one moment that CDC researchers will publish findings that reveal their non-profit corporate funders are maiming and killing our children?
Who owns the science? Pharmaceutical companies own the science, and they will continue to own the science as long as grants and partnerships between drug makers and regulatory agencies, as well as academic institutions, are formed. The CDC is what’s called a “captured agency” at this point, as are many universities and medical schools.
When you hear someone say, “Scientific researchers agree that vaccines are safe, and I trust them,” pause for a moment to hear what that really means. Corporate America owns that science now; not the taxpayers, not our national leaders, not the CDC researchers with a bunch of degrees after their names.
This is the truth:
“The pharmaceutical companies that profit not only from the vaccines they manufacture, but 20 times more than that from selling drugs for the chronic disease they create, have enough control over the CDC to make them say that vaccines are safe.” Do you trust them?
