“Flumania” is a thing and its happened upon us. According to myself, this is a term used to describe the mass hysteria being created over all things “flu” with the goal of driving up the demand for flu shots and Tami(give you the)flu.
Let me tell you how it works: First, they pretend the flu shot is actually effective. When people figure out that a double chocolate donut from Dunkin’ has a better chance of preventing the flu, they’ll tell you it’s still better for people to risk their lives for the vaccine’s 1.5% efficacy rating. (How did I get this? Fifteen percent of influenza-like illnesses are actually caused by influenza viruses according to the CDC-tested specimens over the past 19 years multiplied by the 2017/2018 flu vaccine efficacy rating of 10%.)
Pay no attention to the actual numbers though because they are unimportant when it comes to the beloved flu vaccine. In order to sell something that doesn’t work, they have to convince people that the flu vaccine is safe, is the only life-preserver left on the Titanic, and that the drop of water in your bathtub is far scarier than the Atlantic ocean the flu shot will push you into.
How do they do this? They find someone who died from something that resembles the flu, get the media to cover it, and sensationalize headlines. What they don’t tell you is that these individuals were already in poor health, died from underlying conditions that made them susceptible to the flu, had flu strains that aren’t even contained in the flu vaccine, had the flu shot (because let’s face it, you’re practically guaranteed to get the flu if you get the flu shot), or died from the flu shot itself.
What makes this year’s Flumania even better is the coinciding hysteria over a shortage of “Tamiflu.” Let’s face it, there’s nothing that sells more than the fear of something that could shorten your cold by a mere half a day with side-effects far worse than the flu itself. Wait … you thought Tamiflu was safe and they didn’t tell you about its side-effects? Of course they didn’t. It make kids hallucinate, girls jump out of windows, and people die.
[…] Tamiflu use could induce sudden deterioration leading to death especially within 12 hours of prescription. These findings are consistent with sudden deaths observed in a series of animal toxicity studies, several reported case series and the results of prospective cohort studies. From “the precautionary principle” the potential harm of Tamiflu should be taken into account and further detailed studies should be conducted.
According to Cochrane (an independent network of health professionals who pore through scientific evidence to determine the safety and effectiveness of various treatments), Tamiflu is about as effective as drinking water from your dog’s bowl. Compared to the placebo, there were no reductions in hospitalization or serious influenza complications and it increased the risk of vomiting, nausea, headaches, and psychiatric events. The tradeoff? It will decrease your influenza-like symptoms by half a day (if you don’t go crazy first).
Tamiflu (the antiviral drug oseltamivir) shortens symptoms of influenza by half a day, but there is no good evidence to support claims that it reduces admissions to hospital or complications of influenza. […] Evidence from treatment trials confirms increased risk of suffering from nausea and vomiting. And when Tamiflu was used in prevention trials, there was an increased risk of headaches, psychiatric disturbances, and renal events.
When will they finally acknowledge that flu-like symptoms serve a purpose? A fever is a healthy immune response needed to kill pathogens and it’s stupid to suppress it (save the few exceptions). Fatigue is the body’s way of telling you to hold up. Vomiting (of the kind not caused by Tamiflu) is a way of removing bugs that get into the digestive tract or enforcing a fast (which diverts energy from digestion to fighting an illness). Wait, don’t answer that … you’ll never hear such things because there’s no money to be gained in telling people to go to bed.
If your doctor didn’t tell you about this – it’s probably time to find a new one, and if you didn’t find any of this information online, its because it’s suppressed like everything else that will harm the drug industry and their market. You’ll have to break out your Google degree, head to the web archive, and pore through the studies yourself. The flu vaccine is associated with the most reported side-effects of any other vaccine, Tamiflu is dangerously riddled with the same corruptive stink that accompanies much of the pharmaceutical industry, and neither of them work.
Is there a vaccine against flumania? If so, sign me up for that.
Megan, what do you do when you work for a healthcare system that makes the flu shot mandatory? If you decline the shot, you have to wear a mask (which I’m ok with), but can only do so with a medical exemption or religious belief/practice. I don’t have any reason to see a medical doctor, especially since I am currently enrolled as an ND student. The religious belief/practice I am trying to get advice on. I DO NOT want this shot. But I am being pressured as a “leader” to set a good example. I’m thinking that if I decline it I am setting a good example. Can you please advise?
Hi Dawn, I would get the religious exemption and do what you feel is best for you. I don’t think giving into peer pressure or being coerced out of your legal rights is ever a good thing. <3
Thanks for sharing this, I appreciate you and your willingness to write about hard things, and such controversial things. 😉
I went to Urgent Care in November because I couldn’t get my fever down for days, a horrible cough that kept me up all night, and I couldn’t take care of my two kids (not normal for me). They checked me for the flu, both tests came back negative but I was prescribed tamiflu, and some cough syrup. I was told that it would help my symptoms, and that I may have an undetectable flu so it would be wise to take the RX.
The cough syrup made me feel drunk out of my mind. I was laying in bed with the constant feeling of falling, and dizzy. I took half of the tamiflu RX before I realized that I was acting different. Not only did I have straight up insomnia, (fully functioning with 1-2 hours of sleep for 3 days in a row) My symptoms worsened. I was hallucinating the first night, and had very vivid dreams. At day 3 I started thinking of ways to kill myself. I looked at the different medications I had on my counter and for the first time in my life considered how to mix them up in a way that would end my life. I finally got the courage to share with my husband and he was the one that suggested my thoughts and actions were triggered by my medication. I researched briefly and found out how controversial tamiflu is and realized I wasn’t alone in my symptoms.
I would NEVER in my life encourage anyone to take such a thing. I don’t even take tylenol when I’m sick so this was so dumb of me, but I wanted to make the $75 visit worth it. I went to the campus Dr the next week and he gave me an inhaler and told me to take zantac, I started feeling better in a couple days.
So, as a family of little kids who just went through an awful bout of stomach flu, what is recommended to protect our kids from the flu or keep them safe if they do get it? I hear about purification and thieves oils, vitamin D and c, elderberry, and something called oscill-something. What are these, and how do you know How to use them with very small children? How do i build my kids’ immunities back up from the last virus to give them the best chance for beating flu season? Our doctor and nurses know none of this.
Elderberry is very good at preventing the flu and shortening it if you happen to get it. Research it.
You always put my mind at ease and get me back to thinking clearly. So much noise in our world today makes it easy to forget that our bodies were made to thrive and survive. Thank you for always sharing the truth.
I’m glad I found you megan.
” and the truth will set us free.”
I’m glad you did too. 😉
Loved this! So informative and easy to understand with the way you chose to put your words out there.
Thanks Kelly. 🙂
My teenage son took Tamiflu and it was horrible . I was shocked to see that it is being prescribed to babies even. Stay away …. far …. far … away … and especially keep young children who’s brains are still developing away from this horrible drug which is poison .
Mari Zammit
This drug is banned in Japan for children because it has caused suicide in them .
I shared the flumania article adding the ingredients in the vaccine.
I wish you would have added sources to this article

Hi Megan,
Every year the people who are responsible for the various flu-vaccines have to predict which strains of influenza will be most prevalent. This, like weather-forecasting, is not a trivial matter, and like weather-forecasting, is not always accurate.
People die of complications of the flu, e.g. pneumonia, not from the virus itself, but it was definitely the virus that caused the pneumonia.
No you are not guaranteed to get the flu if you get the vaccine, unless you equate the normal symptoms that your body has in response to the vaccine as an actual illness.
If you do that, then you should perhaps stop googling and read a decent textbook for a change. Or talk to that doctor that somehow forgot to tell you to just lie in bed.
What would benefit the pharmaceutical companies more, selling cheap vaccines or all the accompanying costs of a hospitilization?
And if you still think the vaccines are ineffective and just a money-making scheme by pharmaceutical companies, then why, oh why, is my medical insurance willing to pay for the vaccine?
Wholeheartedly agree. Just got over the flu even though I had the flu shot. Had only 3days of bad symptoms and then started feeling better. My feeling is the flu shot helped shorten my symptoms. And yes I really had the flu. I tested positive.
Love it!!!! It’s infuriating… the lies that people believe!!! We need to shed more light on the subject!!! Wake up peeps!
Well done Megan👍🏽👏🏽
Brilliant Megan! Love your style and sassy tone. Say it how it is!
It’s always refreshing to read your sensible words that speak common sense in spite of all the programming the ‘bought’ media feeds us all daily.
Thanks Steve! 😉
