This is a guest post by Bobby Dee.
Wednesday, August 27th, 2014, Dr. Bill Thompson of the CDC issued a press release through his attorney where he admitted that the CDC has hidden data about the MMR vaccine causing autism for at least the last 14 years.
“My name is William Thompson. I am a Senior Scientist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where I have worked since 1998.”
Bobby Dee Interpretation: I’ve worked with these people for 16 years and they know all of my secrets, not that they’d ever threaten me with them. Not to mention that my pension doesn’t vest for another 4 years, so I’m going to try to keep this professional.
“I regret that my coauthors and I omitted statistically significant information in our 2004 article published in the journal Pediatrics. The omitted data suggested that African American males who received the MMR vaccine before age 36 months were at increased risk for autism. Decisions were made regarding which findings to report after the data were collected, and I believe that the final study protocol was not followed.”
Bobby Dee Interpretation: we conducted this study and found out that the MMR was causing African American boys to be autistic at a rate of 3.4 times over control group. And by “statistically significant,” I mean we had to get rid of those kids or it would be obvious to the world that the MMR causes autism, and I’d be out of a job. [See: pension, paragraph 2.]
“I want to be absolutely clear that I believe vaccines have saved and continue to save countless lives. I would never suggest that any parent avoid vaccinating children of any race. Vaccines prevent serious diseases, and the risks associated with their administration are vastly outweighed by their individual and societal benefits.”
Bobby Dee Interpretation: I’m not a complete nut job. Please don’t Wakefield me. I don’t want my name mentioned in every single vaccine media piece from now until the end of eternity.
“My concern has been the decision to omit relevant findings in a particular study for a particular sub group for a particular vaccine. There have always been recognized risks for vaccination and I believe it is the responsibility of the CDC to properly convey the risks associated with receipt of those vaccines.”
Bobby Dee Interpretation: I was only caught talking about the MMR and black toddlers but trust me, that’s just the tip of the iceberg of what the CDC isn’t telling you. This has been going on a looooong time.
“I have had many discussions with Dr. Brian Hooker over the last 10 months regarding studies the CDC has carried out regarding vaccines and neurodevelopmental outcomes including autism spectrum disorders. I share his belief that CDC decision-making and analyses should be transparent. I was not, however, aware that he was recording any of our conversations, nor was I given any choice regarding whether my name would be made public or my voice would be put on the Internet.”
Bobby Dee Interpretation: Well, there’s no putting that toothpaste back in the tube, is there? I’m not going to deny that I said what I said since all of you have heard it by now. At this point in time I’m not sure whether the feds will come after me, so I’m just throwing this out there in case they have any intention of using this evidence in a court of law: I did not consent to recorded relations with that man, Dr. Hooker.
“I am grateful for the many supportive e-mails that I have received over the last several days. I will not be answering further questions at this time. I am providing information to Congressman William Posey, and of course will continue to cooperate with Congress. I have also offered to assist with reanalysis of the study data or development of further studies. For the time being, however, I am focused on my job and my family.”
Bobby Dee Interpretation: how did you people get my personal e-mail? God Almighty, one person cannot read all of these messages. Anyway, the lawyers just handed me an index card, from which I am reading word-for-word at this point.
“Reasonable scientists can and do differ in their interpretation of information. I will do everything I can to assist any unbiased and objective scientists inside or outside the CDC to analyze data collected by the CDC or other public organizations for the purpose of understanding whether vaccines are associated with an increased risk of autism. There are still more questions than answers, and I appreciate that so many families are looking for answers from the scientific community.”
Bobby Dee Interpretation: make no mistake: I’m not saying that CDC directors qualify as “reasonable scientists.” I am talking to the rest of you. Let’s be honest, I’m going rogue at this point. There aren’t any unbiased or objective scientists to be found in the CDC.
“My colleagues and supervisors at the CDC have been entirely professional since this matter became public. In fact, I received a performance-based award after this story came out. I have experienced no pressure or retaliation and certainly was not escorted from the building, as some have stated.”
Bobby Dee Interpretation: Yeah, that run-in with security was before they realized I could be a protected whistleblower. They’ve since apologized, given me a trophy, and “upgraded” my office to Storage B. They have some new people coming in and need all the space they can get. I do still have my lucky red Swingline stapler.
“Dr. Thompson isrepresented by Frederick M. Morgan,Jr., Morgan Verkamp, LLC, Cincinnati, Ohio, www.morganverkamp.com.”
Bobby Dee Interpretation: to be clear, I am not a whistleblower who has been retaliated against. That said; please forward all correspondence to my attorney, Rick Morgan, who specializes in whistleblower retaliation.
