The American Academy of Pediatrics has officially lost it. In an attempt to manipulate people into vaccinating, they’re trying to manipulate how we view the term “natural” and the activities we ascribe to it. Their first big target? Breastfeeding. Calling breastfeeding what it is … “natural” … could lead parents down the path of homeschooling, alternative medicine, and (gasp!) anti-vaccination. I can’t make this stuff up.Nursing mom today, anti-vaxxer tomorrow. Click To Tweet
When people think of “natural,” they think of “purity, goodness, and harmlessness.” When they think of the synthetic substances contained in vaccines like neurotoxins, hazardous wastes, carcinogens, fluoride in drinking water, or teenage mutant ninja GMOs, they are seen as “unnatural” and “often arouse suspicion and distrust,” and we can’t have that.
Viewing natural as better is assaulting specific public health goals, so we need to get the sheep to stop calling natural, “natural.” The problem? We’re not sheep and we are definitely … not … stupid.
Women have been breastfeeding since circa “first baby on the planet ever” and it IS natural (good, pure, harmless, ideal). You can call it whatever you want, but we’re still going to view it that way (even if we can’t partake).
You can slap a pretty label on a vaccine but that doesn’t change the fact that it contains carcinogens, hazardous wastes, neurotoxins, aborted baby ingredients, and potentially contaminated animal ingredients. You can pour hazardous wastes into our water but that doesn’t change the fact that fluoride is harmful. You can try to convince us that these things are “good, pure, and harmless” but they’re not.
You can spray perfume on a dog turd, but it’s still going to smell like turd.
Just because women continue to do something they’ve always done and call it “natural,” doesn’t mean they’ll turn into an “anti-vaxxer” or that they’re any more likely to filter their water or homeschool their kids. Parents are simply waking up and manipulating the definition of a word isn’t going to change that.
The American Academy of Propaganda (AAP) will market their message to promote their agenda and that’s why no parent takes them seriously. If you see an article telling you that breastfeeding isn’t natural? Throw it into the trash. Call it what it is and tell people who try to convince you otherwise to (gently) take a walk.
